Christophe de Sousa's Vertik office desk is a testament to the power of combining contemporary design with meticulous ergonomics. Inspired by the geometric shape of a desk drawer base, Vertik evolves into a sleek and dynamic silhouette that is both distinctive and elite.

What sets Vertik apart is its attention to detail and unique properties. By multiplying triangular shapes, de Sousa has created a harmonious blend of form and function. The desk, made with wood veneer and lacquered finishes, fits perfectly in an executive workspace, exuding luxury and sophistication.

The realization of Vertik involves the use of MDF sheets, each with a unique design that is cut using CNC technology. These sheets are then meticulously fixed together with glue and screws to achieve the final form. The desk is then completed through a lacquering process and/or coated with hardwoods, adding to its allure and durability.

With dimensions of W:260cm D:115cm H:75cm, Vertik offers ample space for productivity while maintaining a sleek and compact design.

Designed to center around the user, Vertik's drawer unit has a rounded shape to enhance usability. The choice of materials, from lacquer to hardwoods, invites users to not only admire its forms but also to appreciate its tactile qualities.

The Vertik project began in 2014 in Felgueiras and was completed in 2015. It is the result of years of frustration with traditional office desk designs and a desire to break free from manufacturing barriers. Through a combination of traditional joinery methods and available technology, de Sousa has created an avant-garde and distinctive piece that challenges the norms of office furniture.

The design process for Vertik was not without its challenges. Achieving a perfect combination of geometric shapes while prioritizing comfort and design was no easy feat. However, de Sousa's meticulous attention to detail and the use of MDF boards ensured that all vertices were carefully preserved and highlighted. The ultimate goal was to create an object of desire, and Vertik certainly achieves that.

Its sharply geometric shapes, combined with noble materials, give it an unapologetically executive identity.
